Connor Storrie May Face Ryan Gosling in Ghost Rider

Marvel's upcoming Ghost Rider film may be adding a new cast member: according to several film publications, Connor Storrie is in talks for a major role in the production. Reports describe the actor as Ryan Gosling's opponent and the story's main villain, but there has not yet been an official announcement that a deal has been signed.

The news therefore cannot yet be regarded as a final casting decision. Both IGN's report and Variety Australia's report say talks are taking place, but Marvel Studios has not confirmed that Storrie is joining the film.

Connor Storrie could be the film's main antagonist

According to Variety Australia, Storrie could play Ghost Rider's adversary. The publication links the actor's name to the series Heated Rivalry, while the Marvel film could represent a significantly bigger Hollywood opportunity for him if the parties ultimately reach an agreement.

Reports are not entirely consistent about the importance of the role. Knight Edge Media previously described the offer as a co-lead role, while IGN and Variety Australia have characterised Storrie's potential character as a villain or antagonist. The differing descriptions may suggest that he would play an important opponent with substantial screen time, but the studio has not yet clarified this.

According to Knight Edge Media, Storrie may have been offered the role without an audition. As this is not an official statement and the publication presented it as an early casting report, the information should be treated with caution.

Talks do not yet guarantee a role

In Hollywood casting reports, the phrase “in talks” indicates that the actor and the production's representatives are negotiating, not that a contract has already been signed. Such discussions may cover the filming schedule, remuneration and contractual details, among other matters.

The Nerd Wire's report specifically states that talks are ongoing but no final agreement has yet been reached. Storrie's involvement should therefore currently be regarded as a likely possibility rather than officially confirmed casting.

This distinction is also important for the headline and the interpretation of the story. The actor may join the film, but it cannot yet be stated with certainty that he will appear in it, nor is it known exactly which character he would play.

Ryan Gosling could play Johnny Blaze

According to IGN, Ryan Gosling has been cast as Johnny Blaze in the upcoming film. The publication says Marvel announced this at San Diego Comic-Con in 2026, meaning Storrie's potential casting would be connected to a character opposing the lead.

Johnny Blaze is the best-known comic-book incarnation of Ghost Rider. Stories about the character centre on supernatural conflicts, difficult moral choices and the tension between the hero's human life and demonic power. A prominent antagonist could therefore be more than a spectacular obstacle, also holding up a mirror to the protagonist's internal struggle.

However, there is no confirmed information about the identity of Storrie's potential character. Mentioning familiar names from the comics would currently be mere speculation: the role could be a classic character, another version of Ghost Rider or a new character created for the film.

Shawn Levy could direct Marvel's new film

Available media reports name Shawn Levy as the director. Reports concerning the screenwriter say Jonathan Tropper is working on the story, although none of the cited news reports supports this information with an official studio statement.

According to Variety Australia, the producers include Kevin Feige, Louis D'Esposito, Stephen Broussard, Shawn Levy and Ryan Gosling. As this is also an industry media report, only a later announcement from Marvel can confirm the final credits.

Gizmodo has also reported that Linus Sandgren would serve as cinematographer and that the film is planned to be shot on celluloid. The source's direct reference has not been verified, so these details cannot yet be regarded as officially confirmed production information.

Reports differ on filming locations

Reports about preparations for the production do not mention the same locations. Digg's summary reported preparations in New York, while Knight Edge Media also named Nevada, Oregon and California as possible locations.

The difference does not necessarily represent a genuine contradiction, as a large-scale film may be made across several states and with different production units. Without an official filming plan, however, it is impossible to determine what role each location would have, so the lists remain media reports for now.

Why does the choice of main villain matter?

In Ghost Rider's world, the identity of the antagonist could fundamentally shape the film's tone. A villain of supernatural origin could produce a more horror-driven story, a human opponent a more grounded conflict, and another motorcycle-riding avenger a more personal confrontation.

The exact nature of Storrie's potential role is therefore more than a simple casting detail. It could also reveal whether Marvel envisions the new Ghost Rider film as a standalone origin story, an adventure linked to a broader cinematic universe or a clash between two powerful characters.

Pairing the younger actor with Gosling could itself create an interesting on-screen dynamic. However, informed conclusions about the story's actual direction can only be drawn after the character, plot and final cast have been officially revealed.

An official announcement remains decisive

The common thread in current reports is that Connor Storrie may be in talks for an important and likely antagonistic role in the Ghost Rider film. However, it is not yet certain that a contract will be agreed, and it is also unknown which comic-book or original character he would play.

The next significant development may be an announcement from Marvel Studios or another official confirmation that Storrie has signed on. Until then, the casting report is a promising development, but not a final casting decision.
